Chermane Fletcher Plays Tennis For Many Reasons
As a young child growing up in Dallas, Texas, and attending Clara Oliver Elementary School, Boude Story Middle School, and Skyline High School, Chermane Fletcher had no major interest in sports. The closest thing she got to sports at the time was ballet, something she did in her spare time away from her academic pursuits.
It was an academic requirement that got
Chermane involved in sports
several years
after high school while attending Mountain View College and North Texas State University as a student majoring in Business Administration. Chermane had to take four hours in athletics, and she decided to do tennis. After college, Chermane was seen often on the courts at Glendale Park in Oak Cliff, Dallas, Texas. Later, Chermane moved to West Oak Cliff with her husband, Carl and three daughters, where her participation in the game began to increase tremendously as: a former USTA official; a Board Member of the Metro Tennis League; a player in three local tennis leagues, and local and state Mixed Doubles tournaments; a coordinator of three flights of teams in the Metro Tennis League; and captain of a mixed doubles team that plays out of Kiest Tennis Center. She is an active member of hte Kiest Challengers, a ladies doubles team that competes against other teams in the Metroplex. When not on the courts, Chermane can be seen at LA Fitness serving as a fitness trainer. What is her motivation? "I enjoy being a competitor, and, of course, I want to win. The benefits are tremendous. It keeps me in top physical shape, and I get a chance to be around people that I enjoy," reasons Chermane, cited for her participation in tennis. What an example for everyone to follow!
